Australian Life
photography competition

How do you see Australian life?

The Australian Life photo contest is a perennial favourite in the Art & About program. We’ve been collecting and exhibiting epic and intimate images from around Australia for more than 15 years.

We want to see Australian life through your lens. We’re looking for engaging and intriguing photos that depict Australia beyond the icons.

You may capture any aspect of Australia – everyday occurrences, fleeting moments, unusual places, comical characters, celebrations or rituals, natural or artificial environments.

Need inspiration? See our 2018 winners gallery.

From the entries we receive, finalists will be selected to have their work enlarged and exhibited in Hyde Park north, from 19 September to 6 October 2019.

  1. Official prize

The grand prize winner will receive $10,000. The Australian Life Prize is awarded for the most outstanding work in the exhibition, determined by a distinguished panel of judges. The grand prize winner will be announced on the opening night of the exhibition, 19 September.

    Finalists will receive $500.

  2. Who can enter?

All Australian residents and permanent citizens can enter. You don’t have to be a professional photographer. Amateur photographers are welcome.

    Entry is free.

  3. Closing date

Enter your most striking and evocative images by midnight on Sunday 16 June 2019.

Tip: It’s a great idea to read the image specifications (included on the entry form) and Australian Life terms and conditions before entering.
