Sydneysiders and visitors are embracing its laneways once more as they hum with the buzz of new art, new businesses and new life. Always evolving, in early 2011 the City sought ideas from artists and curators in an open call for proposals for it’s latest Laneway Art program to inject a fresh dose of inspiration and magic. Take a wander and discover seven of the most exciting projects to date by Australian and International artists and curators for this, the fifth instalment of Laneway Art.

21 September 6-8pm NIEA at the College of Fine Art, Selwyn Street, Paddington presents Elasticity: User Generated Urbanism and the Adaptive Metropolis with Rebar. Based in San Francisco, Rebar is an interdisciplinary studio working at the intersection of art, design and ecology. More information here.                   

23 September 1-2pm Brown Paper Bag Lunch discussion In the Bubbleway Bulletin Place ‘Interactivity and Public Space’ moderated by Gary Sangster with speakers including Rebar, Lee Stickells and Zanny Begg.

24 September 5-6pm Sussex Lane Magda Sayeg artist and guerilla knitter in discussion with Steven Pozel director of Object Gallery.

24 September 6-8pm A Taste of Sussex Lane Join all the artists from the Laneway Art program and enjoy the hospitality of the local bar operators in Sussex lane.

27 October 8pm-late Scoping out the periphery – A special screening of works by artists involved in the Peri[pheral]scope project joining forces for the night with The Amazing Rolling Picture Show in Wynyard Park.
