Encounter Reg Mombassa’s gigantic Wallscape at Sydney’s iconic landmark.
This October the Sydney Opera House will celebrate its 40th anniversary. As part of their celebrations to mark this event, they have commissioned Reg Mombassa to create a giant mural that will tower six metres high in the forecourt of the Sydney Opera House at Circular Quay.
The panoramic artwork will complement the suite of ‘Gumscapes’ created by Reg Mombassa in his role as Creative Ambassador for 2013 Sydney New Year’s Eve. The work will be a continuation of Mombassa’s ‘eye’ theme with some of his favourite subjects and visual preoccupations – gum trunks, suburban architecture, technological infrastructure, genetically modified flora and fauna and of course Sydney’s twin global icons the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.
