APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED FOR ART & ABOUT SYDNEY 2015
Art & About Sydney 2015 will run from 18 September – 11 October 2015. In addition to our 2015 Festival, we will produce a number of works outside the festival period on a project basis.
THE BRIEF – PROJECTS AND INSTALLATIONS
We are looking for projects and installations that are:
- Temporary works presented in a public or unusual space
- Demonstrate artistic excellence
- Involve or engage the audience in its development/presentation or both
All projects and installations must meet the terms and conditions to be considered.
Selected works will be realised either for the Art & About Sydney 2015 Festival (18 September – 11 October) or as individual projects presented between June 2015 – December 2016.
A number of projects will be supported, valued between $10,000 – $80,000. Budgets for the installation/project are to cover all costs for the presentation of the artwork.
If your project is shortlisted, the City may pay the artist/organisation a fee of $1000 (plus GST if applicable) to refine the project proposal.
All submissions must be made via the online form below. To complete the form you will need the following:
- Contact details
- Artist/s team Bio or CV’s
- Artwork statement 200-250 words (2000 maximum characters, describing the artwork/project concept and how it meets the Art & About criteria
- Artist impression /concept drawing of the proposed work/project
- An indicative budget

Proposals will be evaluated according but not limited to:
- Creative approach
- Use of public /unusual space
- Calibre/experience of artist/s/team
- Audience engagement/experience

LOCATIONS OF WORKS
Following is a list of City of Sydney owned or controlled land that artists may consider as a location for their work:
Paddington Reservoir Gardens, Hyde Park North and South, Martin Place, Pitt Street Mall , Customs House Square, Alfred Street, Wynyard Park, Queens Square, Sydney Square, Sydney Park.
The City is also happy to work with artists to secure location approvals from private property owners
